Adapted from author Lois Duncan's 1971 children's book of the same name, director Thor Freudenthal's Hotel for Dogs follows two mischievous orphans as they attempt to hide dozens of stray dogs in an abandoned hotel. Disheartened by their new guardians' announcement that pets are strictly forbidden, 16-year-old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her younger brother, Bruce (Jake T. Austin), race to find a home for their loyal dog Friday. Fortunately for Friday, there's an abandoned hotel just around the corner, and Bruce possesses just the kind of mechanical smarts needed to transform the rundown inn into a four-star retreat for canines. For a while, Friday and his friends have it made, but when the neighbors start to get suspicious, Andi and Bruce resort to every trick in the book in order to prevent their secret from being discovered. The Fox cop drama K-Ville was set in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans, hence its title (the designation "K-Ville" was among the graffiti found scrawled on the walls left standing in the wake of the disaster). The focus was on the activities of the NOPD's Felony Action Squad, led by short-tempered Capt. James Embry (John Carroll Lynch). Heading the cast was Anthony Anderson as police detective Marlin Boulet, who, assigned to keep the peace in his old, now devastated Ninth-Ward neighborhood, played by his own rules, never dodged a confrontation with either criminals or colleagues, and swigged bourbon with cavalier abandon. He was also a compassionate family man, though he found it very difficult to carry on a long-distance relationship with his wife Ayana (Elise Neal) and daughter Tawni (Jiya Fowler), who'd been evacuated to Atlanta. Boulet's new partner was the mysterious Trevor Cobb (Cole Hauser), a "loose-cannon" veteran of the Afghan War whose previous criminal record had been fortuitously washed away in the hurricane, a secret that Boulet was willing to keep from the higher-ups so long as Cobb stayed "on task." The rest of the Felony Action Squad ran the usual TV-stereotype gamut, including resident jokester "Glue Boy" Gooden (Blake Shields) and sole female member "Love Tap" LeBeau. Ronnie (David Rees Snell) discovers that there is 7,000 dollars missing from the "Money Train" stash. He and Lem (Kenny Johnson) suspect Shane (Walton Goggins), but Vic (Michael Chiklis) doesn't believe it. Shane, meanwhile, decides to buy an engagement ring for Mara (Michele Hicks) from Taylor (RonReaco Lee), a fence. Julien (Michael Jace), desperate to have a child with his wife, visits a doctor about his sexual dysfunction. Dutch (Jay Karnes) takes Danny (Catherine Dent) out to look for the "cuddler" rapist, and later learns that an elderly woman was sexually assaulted and murdered just a few blocks away. A minor oversight by Claudette (CCH Pounder) endangers the lives of Trish (Nicki Micheaux) and Waylon (Gareth Williams), who are working undercover to bust a gang-related contract-murder business. Waylon's cover is blown, putting the cops in the precarious position of needing to alert Waylon not to go forward with the sting, without putting Trish in further jeopardy. Tommy (Matt Gerald) returns to the station to beg for his old job back. When neither Julien nor Danny seems enthusiastic about helping him, he takes drastic action. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

In this drama, a young man joins the family business without knowing that he's entering a world of danger and deceit. Hot-headed Leo Handler (Mark Wahlberg) has had some scrapes with the law and served time for a crime he didn't commit. Hoping to get his life back on track, he takes a job in the New York subway yards, secured by his Uncle Frank (James Caan), who has a high-ranking position in the New York Transit Authority. The longer Leo works in the yards, the more he realizes that his uncle controls a corrupt underworld where graft, violent reprisals, and even death are just part of the job. Will Leo turn against his family in the name of justice, or will he keep quiet and ignore the danger and lawlessness that surround him? The Yards also features Charlize Theron, Joaquin Phoenix, Ellen Burstyn, and Faye Dunaway.
