Tracy Nelson Movies

The daughter of Rick Nelson (son of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson) and Chris Harmon (daughter of football legend Tom Harmon and sister of actor Mark Harmon), Tracy Nelson made her film debut at age five as one of Henry Fonda's daughters in Yours, Mine and Ours (1968). Her movie career didn't really pick up until her teens, when she began appearing in such films as Footloose (1982) and Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986). Before that, Tracy was seen as Jennifer DeNuccio, a zoned-out valley girl on the 1982 "teen-misfit" TV sitcom Square Pegs. Seven years later she was playing Sister Stephanie, a spunky young nun with a gift for sleuthing and a predisposition for disguise on the weekly television crime drama Father Dowling Mysteries. Between 1987 and 1989, Nelson battled with Hodgkins disease. She has continued her film career through the 1990s, appearing in television series and made-for-television movies. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

In her efforts to prove his innocence, Michael's over-protective mother Sandra (Tracy Nelson) succeeds only in uncovering evidence that effectively indicts her son. Professional journalist Lisa (Tracy Nelson) is certain that she has landed the perfect spouse when she weds the brilliant and charismatic widowed author Ty Kellington (Michael Riley). Our heroine's access to her friends and family members is completely cut off after she injures her ankle in an accident, rendering her virtually captive to her increasingly unhinged husband. First broadcast in Canada in 2003, the made-for-TV movie The Perfect Husband debuted in the U.S. via cable's Lifetime channel on February 12, 2004 -- only to be hastily retitled Her Perfect Spouse to avoid confusion with another cable effort, The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story, telecast the very same week. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

A group of youthful misfits learn the value of teamwork in this made-for-TV comedy-drama. Kanin (Cameron Finley) is a 11-year-old kid who loves baseball and wants to play on the local Little League team. But as much as he loves the game, Kanin isn't very good, and he figures he doesn't have much of a chance of making a place on the team coached by Bobby Geiser (Patrick Duffy), who has guided a number of league champions. Kanin is pleasantly surprised when he and a number of other less-than-stellar players make the cut, but they soon discover Geiser was forced to take them onto the team after losing a bet -- and that he'll see to it that they ride the pine all season. Director Robert Mugge created this documentary about Robert Johnson, one of the most enigmatic pioneers in American music. Created as part of a week-long tribute to the legendary bluesman at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the film sorts through the numerous myths about Johnson -- most notably that he sold his soul to the devil to become a blues maestro -- and the few extant facts about his life. How he died or where his body is located is simply not known. What does remain from this shadowy figure is a collection of songs that have influenced several generations of artists. Eric Clapton and Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir are just two of the sundry rock and blues musicians that appear in this documentary extolling Johnson's wizardry, which was screened at the 1999 Mills Valley Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

Comic actor Bob Saget served as producer and director of this made-for-TV film, inspired by the true story of Saget's sister Gay, who died in 1994 at the age of 47. Despite the pressures of single motherhood, schoolteacher Hope Altman (Dana Delany) seems to have her life in order until she is diagnosed with scleroderma, a disfiguring skin disease that causes her body's connective tissues to stiffen and atrophy, and will eventually paralyze her while eating away at her vital organs. There is no cure for scleroderma, and the survival rate is tragically low--and worse, neither the medical community nor the general public has a firm grasp on understanding the disease and its many victims (500,000, mostly female, in the United States alone). The film chronicles the manner in which Hope and her family handle the nightmarish situation, often with what Saget described as "irreverence and dark humor" (At one point, Hope's brother Alan--a comedy writer--quips that scleroderma sounds like "a deli entrée"). Sharon Monsky, who at the time ran one of the most prominent organizations for those suffering from scleroderma, appears briefly as herself. For Hope originally aired over the ABC network on November 17, 1996. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
