Like two of his business partners in the Southern California-based, LGBT-centered film production company Mythgarden -- Chad Allen and Craig Dougherty -- actor/producer Robert Gant made headlines for his efforts to expand the scope of homosexual roles in Hollywood projects beyond conventional, overwrought, two-dimensional stereotypes. A graduate of Georgetown University law school, Gant originally intended to practice law in Southern California, but instead headed into acting and scored a major success with his portrayal of HIV-infected college professor Ben Bruckner on the groundbreaking Showtime television series Queer as Folk. Subsequent projects included the Steven Monroe-directed suspense thriller The Contract (2001) and one of the leads in the Mythgarden-produced drama Save Me. Co-starring Allen, the film told of a young man drawn into a homosexual "recovery center" by some bigoted evangelical Christians; Gant plays the young veteran of the couple's treatment who finds himself increasingly drawn into a gay relationship with Allen's character. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

They say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and in this look at one of the most polarizing religious and sexual debates in America, filmmaker Robert Cary attempts to reconcile homosexuality with Christianity. Mark (Chad Allen) is a young gay man who has fallen into a dangerous cycle of hard drugs and risky sex. Recognizing that his sibling may not have the strength to pull himself back from the edge, Mark's brother checks him into the Genesis House Christian retreat in New Mexico -- a place far removed from the temptations of the big city. Genesis House is run by a deeply spiritual, middle-aged couple named Gayle (Judith Light) and Ted (Stephen Lang). After losing a battle with sin back when she was young, Gayle has dedicated her entire life to rescuing young homosexuals from their own inner demons. In order to help Mark through the process, Gayle assigns Scott (Robert Gant) -- one of the program's advanced "fifth phasers" -- as the newcomer's mentor. When Gayle notices that Mark and Scott's relationship is intensifying, she sees the development as a threat and fights back in order to prevent her carefully controlled world from falling apart. A woman blowing off steam after a bad day inadvertently signs out a death warrant on a number of people close to her in this suspense drama. Anna (Camilla Overbye Roos) has not been having a good time of it lately: she's been chewed out by her boss, she's had an argument with her best friend, her husband keeps making eyes at a waitress, she's been having trouble with her babysitter, and even the checker at the supermarket is giving her static. Decidedly unhappy, Anna stops by a neighborhood bar and has a few cocktails; after the alcohol has gone to her head, she starts discussing her problems with a mysterious stranger who tells her he can do something about all the people who are bothering her if she'll simply sign her name on a cocktail napkin. Anna does so, and promptly forgets about it, waking up the next morning with an industrial-strength hangover. However, a few days later Anna's boss is killed, and over the next few days several other people with whom Anna was cross start dropping like flies. Anna realizes that the mysterious stranger had her sign out a contract on everyone who wronged her, and now she must find him before anyone else dies -- or he comes back to murder her and close the circle.
