Director Oleg Fomin's period thriller Gospoda Ofitsery: Spasti Imperatora unfurls at the turn of the 20th century, coincident with the Russian Revolution. As Civil War rips Russia into two halves - a Red Army, fronted by Communist revolutionaries, and a White Army, fronted by counterrevolutionaries - Tsar Nicholas II falls into the hands of ruthless Bolsheviks, and the White Guard army (many of its officers fully supportive of monarchial restoration) launches a coordinated attempt to rescue him, despite an encroaching Red Army cadre sent to eliminate them. In time, it all boils down to one politically-inclined army against another, though the question lingers, in the background, of whether the White Army will manage to reach Nicholas before the Bolsheviks bring his life to a sudden and tragic end. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

A bickering couple finds their apartment suddenly overrun by a crack special forces unit in director Arkadiy Yakhnis' ominously titled, absurdist comedy drama. Marxin (Yuri Nifontov) is a mild-mannered university lecturer who lives a life of domestic predictability with this acerbic wife Lera (Marina Ilyina), a German teacher. One day, four military commandos led by Colonel Zharov (Oleg Fomin) invade the couple's home in order to stake out the adjacent apartment -- where they believe a dangerous fugitive is holed up. At first Marxen is furious, desperately seeking out the assistance of the police and a psychiatrist in ridding his apartment of the invaders. As the days wear on, however, Marxen begins to enjoy the company and Lera adapts religion as a means of dealing with the chaos in her home. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A group of teens living in Minsk, Byelorussia, have formed a brutal gang which they call "The Commuters," perhaps because this is the group they prey upon. Each of them considers their prospects in life without money or influence, and none of them, seemingly, has much to look forward to. "Arlekino" (Oleg Fomin), the leader, along with his mates who bear gang names such as Ghoul, Crutch and Crowbar, participates in a brutal gang-rape at the climax of the film. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
