Jason Connery Movies

The son of actors Sean Connery and Diane Cilento, London-born Jason Connery inaugurated his own film career in 1982 with The Lords of Discipline, which though set in a Southern military academy, was lensed in England. His next film was The Boy Who Had Everything (1983), a title that provided ammunition for those jaundiced critics who assumed that Jason's career was merely a by-product of his parents' fame. In fact, Jason was talented enough to carve out a career without his lofty pedigree, as proven by his swashbuckling star turn in Robin of Sherwood, a well-distributed BBC television series of the late 1980s. In 1990, Jason Connery was wittily cast in the title role in the made-for-cable The Secret Life of Ian Fleming, a fanciful biography of the author/adventurer whose "James Bond" novels had helped catapult Jason's dad Sean to fame. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

A man scarred by the horrors of war encounters a new low in human brutality in this extreme horror story. Trevor Lloyd (Jason Connery) is a veteran of the Iraq war who has had a falling out with his wife and has decided to head west to start his life over again. While hitch-hiking through Texas, Trevor gets a ride from Parker Hilton (Randy Spelling), who makes him an offer -- if Trevor wants to make some traveling money, he's welcome to work a few days at Hilton's ranch. Trevor eagerly accepts, but when he and a handful of other hitchers arrive at the Hoboken Hollow Ranch, they discovers they've made a horrible mistake. Weldon Broderick (Mark Holton) and his family of bloodthirsty psychopaths run the ranch with Hilton, and rather than pay laborers, they simply kidnap men unlikely to be found missing anytime soon, and work them as hard as they can for as long as they can. When the abuse and torture become too much to bear, Broderick and his cohorts kill the drifters and make jerky from their flesh. As Trevor searches for a way to escape from this living hell, eccentric local businessman J.T. Goldman (Michael Madsen) is trying to persuade Broderick to sell him his land, but unwittingly discovers the horrible secret of his success in ranching. Hoboken Hollow also stars Dennis Hopper, Robert Carradine, C. Thomas Howell and Jonathan Fraser. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A handful of zoo animals leave behind their well-protected environment for the streets of the big city in this computer-animated comedy. Sampson (voice of Kiefer Sutherland) is the king of a make-believe jungle far from the African plains -- he's a lion on display at a zoo in New York City's Central Park, and he lords it over the other animals, including Nigel (voice of Eddie Izzard), a testy koala bear; Larry, a dumb but well-meaning snake; ; Bridget (voice of Janeane Garofalo), a bright but cynical giraffe; and Benny (voice of Jim Belushi), a very New York-ish squirrel who is good friends with Sampson and is trying to romance Bridget without much success. The pride and joy of Sampson's life is his son, Ryan (voice of Greg Cipes), and he's devastated when one day Ryan is crated up and shipped back to Africa. Sampson is desperate to find his boy, and with the help of his pals he escapes the zoo and sets out on a daring mission to rescue Ryan, battling the unfamiliar terrain and Kazar, a wildebeest with a will to power and a passion for choreography (voice of William Shatner) along the way. Catalina Guirado, Natasja Vermeer, Judi Shikoni, Luke Goss and Jason Connery (Sean Connery's son) co-headline the sensual erotic drama Private Moments, directed by Jag Mundhra (Tales of Kama Sutra, Tropical Heat, Sexual Malice). This leads to salacious nighttime confessions about erotic adventures, from phone booth sex to carnal excitement in a railroad car. In the second half of the film, Serena, the Sue Johanson-like host of an after-dark radio program, culls a bit of inspiration from the shocking confessions and launches a new show called "Private Moments, Public Places," where female listeners are encouraged to call in and anonymously describe their coital engagements in explicit detail. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

The five female protagonists of DIC's animated TV series TrollZ were, indeed, trolls, with the attendant "big hair" and tiny jewel-like bodies. Living in the town of Trollzopolis, the teenaged heroines--Onyx, Topaz, Sapphire, Ruby and Amethyst--did the usually teenaged troll things for the most part, occasionally combining their unique magic skills into "The Power of 5", emulating the live-action cast of Charmed but with less serious ramifications. Of course, both the TrollZ and their friends and family members were ideally suitable for transformation into toys and action figures. Aimed at a female 6- to 16-year-old demographic, TrollZ debuted over cable's Toon Disney on September 23, 2005. For the benefit of those without cable, the series was also syndicated by DIC on a weekday basis. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Jackie Chan has often played a fish out of water, but he's rarely found himself so far upstream as in this comic adventure, in which he puts his fighting skills to the test in the Old West of the 1850s. Lo Fong (Roger Yuan), onetime captain of the Chinese Imperial Guard, has traded upholding the law for smuggling opium. Needing some operating capital, Lo Fong kidnaps the Emperor's daughter, Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu), and takes her to America. When the Emperor sends his best men to find her, Chon Wang (Chan), one of the Emperor's less distinguished guards, insists on joining them; he feels at fault for Lo Fong's capturing the Princess, and he wants to make amends. However, while the rescue party scours the West, Chon Wang gets separated from the group and soon becomes lost. When he crosses paths with Roy O'Bannon (Owen Wilson), a bright but arrogant train robber, the two become unlikely allies. While Shanghai Noon was billed as Jackie Chan's follow-up to Rush Hour, his first successful American-made feature, it was actually filmed in Canada, as was Chan's breakthrough film in America, the Hong Kong-backed Rumble in the Bronx. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
