Back Door To Hell is a short (less than 90 minutes) black and white movie from 1964. It is yet another in the long list of World War II secret mission movies. This time three American soldiers are sent behind enemy lines in the Philippines a few weeks before the invasion to determine Japaneses troop placements. They have the usual encounters with the freedom fighters, bandits and evil Japaneses soldiers. This film gets some play because it stars a very young Jack Nicholson who speaks Japaneses and also is the radio operator. However Jimmie Rodgers gets top billing in the credits. This is a weak plot. In one battle Nicholson manages to use a hand grenade to kill the enemy who are maning a machine gun in a tower. The enemy die but nothing happens to the gun. In another battle they survive but their radio takes a direct hit. It's always the radio in these movies. Only people who enjoy Jack or must see every WWII film should watch this picture. The rest should skip it.

Pretty bad... very low budget 1964 b/w. Only interesting to see a very young Jack Nicholson.

This sorry excuse for a war movie was poorly acted, badly directed, and had a plot and story line with all the thrill of melted vanila ice cream.
