Member Rating:
This attempt to remake the clever 1977 French farce Un Moment d'Egarement stars Michael Caine as an executive named Matthew Hollis, who, together with friend Victor Lyons (Joseph Bologna), travels to Rio de Janeiro on business. Victor sets out on the town in search of a lambada partner, leaving Matthew to fend for himself against his friend's over-sexed teenage daughter (Michelle Johnson), who's come along for the ride. Soon, Matthew succumbs to her advances, despite his efforts to break off the affair, and finds himself a repeated statutory rapist, at least by American legal standards. The script plays out like an extended version of Three's Company, with lots of near-misses and dumb-dumb humor; critics aptly noticed Caine's apparent discomfort throughout the film. ~ Jeremy Beday, Rovi

Start with Michael Caine & Joseph Bologna, add a mostly naked Michelle Johnson, a whole bunch of other nude women and throw in (basically in a throwaway role) a young Demi Moore. What do you get? One fantastic flick. For the younger viewers who watched Eurotrip and loved it...Give this movie a try. You won't be disappointed.

The purpose of movie nudity is usually mild arousal. In this movie, Michelle Johnson did such a wonderful job without her clothes on that it is not arousing at all. There is lots and lots of nudity, but the plot is so strong that none of it is stimulating. Donen, who worked with Cary Grant extensively, has a great replacement in Michael Caine. Donen's leading ladies Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn are not replaced in this movie, but it really is awe-inspiring how well-directed the nude scenes are with Michelle Johnson. It's like it was just for Caine's character. Really, it's a deep film. It is best to see Donen's others first, or else you might forget what this one's about. I would give it more stars if I could, but people would wonder about my partiality for this director, who in my opinion is in another league.

Great movie, and Michelle Johnson had a lot to do with it. She's voluptuous and worked well with Michael Caine, who is always great. Bologna was his usual comedic self.
