AC/DC: The Family Jewels (2005)
Member Rating:
Playing hard rock at its stripped down, revved up, loud and proud best, AC/DC have been universally acknowledged as one of the world's finest rock & roll bands for close to 30 years, and this home-video collection documents the group's ferocious on-stage attitude and king-size riffs throughout their career. AC/DC: The Family Jewels is divided into two parts; the first half collects rare television appearances, music videos, and concert footage from the band's early days, featuring original lead singer Bon Scott, including versions of such classics as "Let There Be Rock," "Jailbreak," and "Whole Lotta Rosie," climaxing with a performance taped for Spanish television only ten days before Scott's death. The second half picks up with new lead singer Brian Johnson as AC/DC reaches international stardom; selections include "Hell's Bells," "Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution," "You Shook Me All Night Long," "For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)," "Fly on the Wall," "Who Made Who," and many more. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

For fans of the band, this disc was a RARE treat. Although some of the camera work makes you dizzy with it's constant motion, the cheese factor is way over the top! This band had it's tongue firmly planted in cheek, and the boys looked to be totally enjoying themselves in each shot. if you have not seen Bon Scott perform prior, this collection gives you a complete visual understanding of his styling and nuances. The band was wild on stage but still kept a very good sound together. (Although some takes look to be lip synced?) The opener with Bon Scott dressed as a Swiss Miss singing Baby Please Dont Go is worth the price of admission alone! I had not heard the band do this cover, and it is totally blistering. Combined with Bon in drag it's nothing short of over the top.

This is not just for AC/DC fans but for all rock fans. AC/DC is no longer succesful because they didnt change to fit in with all the new wannabee bands like fall out boy and linkin park they stuck to there guns and they can still play better and rock harder then the new punks. AC/DC has also been called Satanic but what i dont understand is why people accuse AC/DC of being Satinists but they dont accuse real Satamic evil bands like Slayer to be satans. AC/DC are not Satinists they have denyed everything.
