Poor transitions. If you understand Mandarin, you may like allowing the default language to play, but the cultural stuff doesn't cross the boundaries into English. The actors reading the English dubbing lacked engagement. English dubbing automatically turns on subtitles, which also reveal places, such as "Governor's Mansion." Martial Arts buffs may like it -- the story line won't get in the way. IIf you're just curious from seeing Ang Lee's version: a few clever moments and imitations of some of the Original film's special effects, don't come close. Transitions between scenes, (calendar progression), are done poorly -- hard to tell whether the next scene follows immediately or months later. Dialog near the end of Disc 1 reveals the interweaving of relationships in such a way as to be a cross between General Hospital and the closing of a Charlie Chan mystery. But when Disc 1 abruptly ends, there's no send in #2.

This is a bad version of the original, which is both beautiful and breathtaking, unlike this dumb remake. I would encourage all to seek the original, but this, however, has horrible acting, poor effects, and is no where near the aewsome original. Not even worth your glance.
