Capt. Barney Miller (Hal Linden) is the kind of cop we'd all like to meet. He somehow manages to maintain order at New York City's 12th Precinct in Greenwich Village and remains level-headed while dealing with a group of off-the-wall inner-city detectives: Det. Phil Fish (Abe Vigoda), Det. Ron Harris (Ron Glass), Det. Stanley Wojohowicz (Max Gail ), Det. Nick Yemana (Jack Soo), and Det. Sgt. Chano Amenguale (Gregory Sierra). One of Miller's detectives is an inveterate gambler; another attends Renaissance philosophy conventions for fun; and a third spends most of his time daydreaming about being an author. This season's blotter is full of highlights: The precinct deals with potential layoffs; a man threatens to blow up the station unless he can speak with President Nixon; marijuana held as evidence suspiciously disappears; and Capt. Miller gets an attractive job offer that would mean a move to Florida. The three-disc DVD set includes all 22 episodes from the second season (1975-76), with guest stars Linda Lavin, Adam Arkin, David L. Lander, and Charlotte Rae.
