Member Rating:
Alastair Fothergill's nature documentary Deep Blue consists of 90 minutes of footage of undersea creatures -- living, surviving, fighting, and dying. Similar to like-minded documentaries such as Winged Migration and MicroCosmos, Deep Blue features footage from locations throughout the world. The great British actor Michael Gambon provides the narration, which favors involving the viewer emotionally over providing enlightening factual information on the creatures. The 22 segments of the film conclude with footage of how man has affected life under the sea. This film was originally produced for the British television series The Blue Planet. According to the filmmakers, some of the creatures seen here have never been previously recorded on film. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

As others have mentioned in their reviews, I too was hoping there would be a little more explanation as to what was happening on screen. However the footage is amazing. It's also important to note that there was a BBC documentarty series done by the same filmmakers, and that actually used a lot of the same footage. The difference being that there is more narration in the documentary. If you like this than check out the doc series for much more -> Blue Planet: Seas of Life.

This movie contains footage I have never seen in my life! I was blown away by the cinematography and loved that it wasn't overnarrated. It does however contain some graphic footage so you may want to screen and judge for yourself before showing children. If you love nature films, this one is a must-see!

This movie was shot all over the globe, and took about 1,200 days to get all the camera work done. It make you realize how all these creatures are connected, and the cinematography is the BEST! Cool extras on how they filmed it.
