I was elated to see this series on DVD. Seeing the 2 hour pilot again was great. I really liked the behind the scenes interviews. The Mod Squad was always one of my favorites and have hoped many times it would show up on cable. It was really hip and ahead of its time. By today's standard maybe not but many of them don't have soul, just good marketing. It was good to slip back for a bit to a time when the world had some filters. Solid. It was such a joy revisiting this show. I want more.

I hadn't seen these shows since I was a kid, but they still live up to the memories I had of them. The three main characters, Julie, Linc, and Pete, are so vivid in my mind from my preteen years that I was afraid they'd be disappointing when I saw the old shows. On the contrary, they are still fresh and exciting to watch at 40-something! (Yes, there is a lot of over-acting, but the three stars shine throughout. Keep an eye out for future stars in bit parts.) If you are not a child of the 60s, these shows give you a little taste of the incredible fashions, the brilliant colors, the social scene, the racial & political struggles, and all the rest that make us reminisce with some melancholy. Good and bad, it was an exhilirating time, and The Mod Squad takes us back momentarily. Now I've gotta rent Laugh-In!

I never see Mod Squad on cable, and it's been nearly 40 years since I saw some of these episodes. Disk 1 of 1 had the 2 hours series premier. Very cool to see it again. One of the best parts of this same disk is that Michael Cole and Peggy Lipton tell the behind the scenes details, how they were selected for their roles, etc. The stories are fun, it is interesting to see the old cars, love bugs, and flower children, Peggy Lipton is amazing, she does not look a day over 17 in these episodes. And her clothes are awesome, per my wife. These shows make the sixties look even better than I remember them.
