This movie was an unexpected delight. I am a big fan of Naomi Watts and Derek Jacobi. In fact I own all of the Cadfael series. This movie is a must see for mystery lovers especially lovers of Victorian Age stories. The acting is great and the story well done. My wife even enjoyed this movie although this is not the sort of movie she usually watches.

I was terribly disappointed ! I expected a great gothic mystery, but, instead I got a movie full of holes. The synopsis is misleading and the pieces do not falll into place at the end. These dreams that plague Alice were unfounded and just thrown in there for no apparent reason. It has potential, but cold have been written better. I watch a LOT of this type of movie, but I cannot recommend this to anyone !!!

Sheridan LeFanu is the father of the ghost story and wrote in the 19th century. The Wyvern Mystery is a story he began writing in 1839. He may not appeal to modern horror fans of Stephen King, et al. This is a well done period drama, well acted, and has the first mad-woman-in-the-attic....beware!.
