Backlash: Oblivion 2 (1996)
Member Rating:
On the wild desert planet of Oblivion, a man called Sweeny comes to search for a corporate saboteur. Though deceptively dressed as a greenhorn city dude, Sweeny is the most effective bounty hunter in the galaxy. He stays in the town where she (he knows nothing about her) is supposed to reside. He finds plenty of suspicious women and even gets romantically involved with the widow Mattie Chase, stealing her away from her steady beau Marshal Adams. Like its predecessor, this feature attempts to create a fresh new genre by combining science fiction and western with comic elements. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Mix together Paramount's "spoof" label, Star Trek's George Takai, Gunsmoke, and bits and pieces from here and there and what do you get? You get Oblivion, a town/planet sitting on the edge of civilization that is more Dodge City (complete with Miss Kitty, played by Julie Newmar), Dudley Doright and Nell. Cheezy FX and script, but loads of fun. Full Moon produced a bunch of "B" movies that weren't all that bad and this is one of them. The story: The old Marshall's kid now wears the tin badge and Lash - the bad girl, is out to run things until a refined bounty hunter shows up to bring her to justice, only she didn't do it. Goofy and full of fun - full frame, PG in terms of violence and language (PG-13 is on the high side), I'll give it three stars (6/10) for being so much fun.
