This highly acclaimed animated version of the classic children's holiday tale features the voices of several stars, notably Christopher Plummer, James Belushi and Bronson Pinchot. The story is set in mythical Toyland two days before Christmas and centers on the attempts of young Jack and Jill to stop the wicked Barnaby (Plummer) from shutting down the Toyland factory and spoiling the holiday for children everywhere. A really nice family film with good values and a genuinely nasty villain. Good songs and touching characters and suspenseful situations. We were all surprised at the level of peril that the protaganists had to face. It was thrilling without being too much for little ones. But a little scary. Mine are 6 and 8 and were fine, but toddlers might have issues. The romance angle was handled sweetly and innocently, without any gratuitious salacious comments or situations that are inappropriately grown-up. Definitely reminded me of an old-fashioned musical. Very clean.
