The beautiful Nathalie (Audrey Tautou) throws herself into her work after her husband of just three years unexpectedly passes away. One day, she fixates on Markus (Francois Damiens), an unremarkable underling of hers at the office. The two begin a relationship that everyone who knows Nathalie firmly believes will not last, but it's not other people's perceptions as much as their own self-doubt that threatens to split apart this seemingly odd pairing. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi
I found the movie hard to follow at some points. Not knowing if she was going crazy or just playing with the men that came into her life. Or if she was just afraid to open up to anyone.
I found this movie completely romantic and delicate. Definitely a movie for people with an acute sense of what relationships should be based on. I deeply loved it and I'm watching it again tonight!
I saw "Delicacy" about 2 weeks ago, and I have virtually no memory of the story, assuming there is one. Even my wife, who has an exceptional memory for almost everything, could describe only a few details that didn't begin to add up to a plot--again assuming that there was a plot to remember. I vaguely remember the characters carrying out a low-key sort-of-romance during what are supposed to be business hours. The movie sort of drifts along inoffensively, and if I was trying to impress a woman with my sensitivity I'd watch it with her. In fact, I could probably watch it with four or five different dates (not that I'm likely to, as I'm married) and not feel that previous viewings had spoiled it for me.
