Shattered Glass director Billy Ray directs Chris Cooper and Ryan Philippe in this fact-based drama concerning the FBI traitor who carried out what many historians refer to as the most notable national security breach in U.S. history. A key member of the FBI's elite Soviet Analytical Unit, Robert Hanssen (Chris Cooper) would, for 15 years beginning in 1985, sell thousands of pages of classified documents to the Soviets. After making roughly 600,000 dollars on his clandestine endeavor and compromising everything from the identities of KGB spies working for the American government to nuclear war contingency plans, Hanssen was eventually transferred to a newly created position at the FBI's Washington headquarters and assigned the task of guarding his country's most sensitive secrets. It was while working in this capacity that a young agent named Eric O'Neill (Phillipe) was assigned the task of keeping tabs on Hanssen by suspicious higher-ups. I enjoy watching non-fiction films. I know they stretch things here and there, but the main content is true. For this reason, both my husband and myself were mesmerized by this film. As others have said, it's slow to unfold. But, these type of investigations are slow in real life. It's a very interesting movie for history sake and very well done.

Wow! Fantastic movie, great acting, well directed and written - This is the movie "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" should have been. Twists at every turn, but it never looses you... Cooper is a master here (best movie I've ever seen of his), and Phillippe does a fantastic job as do the rest of the great cast. I would recommend this highly.

This movie was not necessarily a spy action-type movie, but if you like spy movies, real drama, you will like this. I liked it a lot. It would not be a waste of time to watch, especially since it is now part of history.

A good story line. If you want action this isn't for you. If you like an intense, pysological, intelligent, man against man thriller, this is it. Even thought you know the outcome it keeps you on the edge of your seat as to how they will catch Hansen A lot of emotional conflicts intertwined within the plot also, keeping ones interest throuhout the movive
