I liked it; much more edgier & graphic than anything that has come along yet for murder mysteries. This series looks like the precursor to Criminal Minds. The setting is in Bradfield, not London.

Along the lines of "Criminal Minds" Series with more English candor Disc 1Title: The Mermaids Singing; Clinical psychologist Tony Hill is teamed up with DI Carol Jordan in the hunt for the torture killer of several men. Based on McDermid's book of the same name.

I really like this British TV series and have watched all seasons from last to first. After viewing this first two-part episode; "The Mermaid Singing" which sets the tone and characters for this series. It also made it a favorite with viewers in the UK and in the USA. One can appreciate the effort at realism and quality in each episode: writing and acting. The endings of each episode are hit and miss however. With some resolving satisfyingly while others feel un-resolved. Perhaps the original authoress, Val McDarmind should have been consulted more often? Still...My Grade: A -Marc L., Seattle, WA

Although this disk three of Season one is not written by Val McDermid, you can tell that Robson Green is going to be a great Tony Hill. And each disk is a separate story so enjoy out of order!
