The directorial debut from filmmaker James Wan, this psychological thriller comes from the first screenplay by actor Leigh Whannell, who also stars. Whannell plays Adam, one of two men chained up in a mysterious chamber. The other, Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes), like Adam, has no idea how either of them got there. Neither of them are led to feel optimistic by the man lying between them dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Together, Adam and Dr. Gordon attempt to piece together what has happened to them and who the sadistic madman behind their imprisonment is. Also starring Danny Glover and Monica Potter, Saw premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi
When I rented this I said to myself, if they could have gotten better actors this could have been the greatest horror movie made. The two main characters weren't that great but the supporting cast was. Saw revolutionized the horror genre and gave ideas to many movies in the future. The use of gore is good and the twist is the icing on the cake.
A creative horror movie. The acting was not great, but it is a suspense horror movie. the plot is good and I really enjoyed the ending. It is worth renting.
This is a gross movie anyone who makes this types of movies has a SICK MIND. There was nothing good about it. How can someone sit there and enjoy a movie of someone being tortured.
I mean seriously if you like these types of movies then you have a sick mind yourself and you need to have your head examine.
I expected this to be a slasher movie, full of tension and gore. Decided to "celebrate" Halloween by watching this movie, and was very pleasantly surprised! Virtually no gore, and I would describe it as a "psychological thriller". I have recommended it to friends.
