Only one of the mythological creatures escapes the evil King Haggard's (voice by Christopher Lee) plan to eliminate all unicorns from the land in Rankin-Bass's (Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer) sophisticated production of The Last Unicorn. In hopes of rescuing her exiled breed, the last unicorn (voice by Mia Farrow) teams up with the kindly, if bumbling wizard Schmendrick the Magician (voice by Alan Arkin), who accompanies her on the far-reaching and treacherous quest to save her kind. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

Just as great as I remembered it. And i saw this when I was probably 6 (in 86). And I remembered the tree and stuff. But I don't remember thinking that it was lewd. Still don't. I have some "pleasantly plump" female relatives in my family. Does that mean I won't let my child (when I have one) hug them because their breast will be in the way? No. Children will find the scene funny (because they can relate) and if anything embarassing or "gross". I mean, the witch in the Little Mermaid wasn't a prude from the way she looked and acted. Children don't think Sex, Adults do. I only wish they would "digitally remaster" the movie, she was a little too bleached out.

I saw this as a child and knew that it hit me in a way no other movie had before. Seeing again as an adult, I see why. It was so different and sad. As a child you just want the happy ending but now that I see it the message is so clear. Also very true to the book.

this movie was a childhood favorite for me. in the 80's alot of actual issues that apear in life as an adult was shown in cartoons to prepare kids for the future ..unlike today where kids are protected and given everything in life .. i think that if you would like you child to be a well rounded adult you would look into older cartoon movies to teach your children. this is a good choice ..

I love this movie. My aunt had told me about it and when I finally found it on DVD I bought it and wow. The animation is really good, the story is awesome and the songs are very nice and relaxing. I almost wish there was some sort of sequal.

Great movie. Really had an impact on me when I was young and first watched it. I remember it being terrifying, inspiring, titillating, and very haunting. After quite a bit of effort I finally got my hands on a copy of it a few years back. Yesterday my 3 yr. old daughter came across it and begged me to play it for her just based on the cover. I warned her about it, but eventually relented. After a few minutes she turned and said, "Is that unicorn gonna get dead?" I just looked at her and said nothing. "Maybe I can watch it more later when I'm older," she concluded. "Thought so." I watched the rest of it later that night and the film is melancholy if not dark in tone and definitely not for younger kids. (That Harpy still gives me the chills.) It was as great as I remembered though and does include a number of situations that might prompt worthwhile discussions on self-sacrifice and other elements of character when the kids get a little older.

This is not exactly a movie for a 3 year old even though it says PG there are some scenes that are too violent for my liking for a little girl to watch that doesnt know too much about violence and death.Just maybe preview it first.

true it isnt ur cookie cutter childhood fantasy movie but because that it's different makes it a great movie. its a great story about a lonely unicorn trying to find the other unicorns that were taken away.i cant explain why its so good but i guess youll just have to see it to experience it yourself. yes there is a tree with large breasts but its really nothing and i think are just too over protective these days and over react

This movie is weird and should not have a G Rating. The bird that kills the gypsy women is dark and scary. There is a tree that turns into a naked old women that sprouts breasts and the unicorn turns into a naked girl...at that point I turned it off. This was done in the 70's, and they must have been doing LSD. Definantly would not recomment this one.

I should have read the reviewers write-ups first - I just looked at the reviewers "star" ratings. Why is this movie rated "G" - cussing, a tree with large breasts and a unicorn that turns into a nude woman. Please think twice before renting this movie for a child under 13.
