National Geographic: 30 Years of National Geographic Specials (1996)
Member Rating:
The phrase National Geographic is synonymous with colorful exposes of faraway cultures and the environments in which they survive. This 30-year special is the ultimate highlight reel that documents some of the best adventures and the accompanying spectacular backdrop that film has ever captured. Narrated by actor Richard Kiley, this video accurately dictates the wonders of this universe, from the bottom of the ocean with undersea explorer extraordinaire Jacques Cousteau to the famous first American expedition to the top of the world, Mount Everest. With clips spanning 114 programs and a multitude of countries, this educational experience is a tribute to the natural order. ~ C. Dwayne Smith, Rovi

Beautiful photography in a multitude of locations around the world. The squid were facinating with the color changes---and as for people being portrayed as BAD---well if the shoe fits... We have a chance to change things for the better if we all just think first and act responsibly towards our earth that supports a myriad of life including us.

I just loved it! The colors, the pictures, they were all as good as I remember them when I saw them the first time around. It was not a disappointment to see the same things I saw years ago once again. My children and I loved watching the special programs on TV while they were growing up. It was our way of traveling around the world from our living room. We had many good discussions about what we had seen on this wonderful program. It brought back many a fond memory for me while I watched this DVD. Thank you for making it available. I loved the way each animal was captured on film. Priceless!

Visually quite beautiful and interesting. However, while this showed the power and magnificance of wild animals and incredible flora, it had a way out of balance distain for mankind. The "take away" was: wild animals - good, natural beauty - good, mankind - very bad.
