Once you've seen Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, it's hard to believe that anyone will ever top her performance! This newer miniseries is interesting in its concept, but not all episodes are strong in terms of cast. My 2 favorites were the first, where Emilia Fox portrays the young Queen who must deal with her sister Margaret's love for Group Capt. Peter Townsend, and the last, where an elderly Queen (Diana Quick) confronts Prince Charles' determination to marry Camilla Parker Bowles. Film clips and commentaries provide new insights for each episode.

A great approach to a subject we "think" we know -- Q.Elizabeth -- from Helen Mirren's version. In this dramatized documentary, the nuances of character are explored. Don't look for a re-creation of Diana's brief tenure. It is a more comprehensive, honest look at the Queen from coronation to present.

It was entertaining, realistic, and although based on facts I already knew it held my interest wonderfully. Loved how they interspersed actors with pictures of the actual royals.
