Power (1986)
Member Rating:
A star-studded cast portrays political movers and shakers in this drama about politics and the media. Richard Gere is Pete St. John, a gilt-edged "image" advisor to the likes of powerful and often crooked politicians -- including a South American candidate for the top office in his country and, reluctantly, a conservative industrialist named Jerome Cade (J.T. Walsh). Cade is after a Senate seat vacated by Sam Hastings (E.G. Marshall), a liberal politician who fits in with the views that Pete once upheld. When things start to go wrong, it looks like Cade's gruff advisor Arnold Billings (Denzel Washington) might hold one of the keys to Pete's discovery of the truth about Cade -- and may be the reason why Hastings is leaving his job. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

I thought with so many highpowered actors, Rihard Gere, Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman, Kate Capshaw --- what could go wrong?? This movie was BORING!!!! It must have been created before these guys hit the big scene & I'm sure it didn't propel them onto any red carpets! I got alot of homework done though after the nth scene of Gere banging drumsticks to music funneling into his arrogant brain through a player of some sort somewhere. What was that all about? Geez, it is hilarious, however, to watch the starpower in this flick make total fools of themselves in a very serious way. That's what I'll remember about this movie -- all star power but no ACTING!

Despite the star studded cast, as advertised, this was one of the most boring movies I have ever watched, the pace was very poor, the story line unexciting, Richard Gere couldn't seem to decide whether he was the sociopath in "Looking for Mr.Goodbar" or a budding , compassionate idealist in this movie. Even Gene Hackman's great acting skills, couldn't pull the rest of the cast into this uninspired movie. Don't bother.

What a Waste of Talent!!! Terrible Script... These actors should have been more discriminating before putting their faces to this movie.
