If Tomorrow Comes (1986)

If Tomorrow Comes (1986)
Member Rating:
Not to be confused with the 1971 TV movie of the same name, the three-part CBS miniseries If Tomorrow Comes was based on the best-selling novel by Sidney Sheldon. At the center of all the intrigue is an attractive pair of jewel thieves, rank amateur Tracy Whitney (Madolyn Smith), and slick professional Jeff Stevens (Tom Berenger). Having failed on their own to secure wealthy marriages, Tracy and Jeff bury their rivalry and turn to each other for romance -- provided that they're given a few moments to themselves by their great nemesis, the dangerously single-minded insurance investigator Daniel Cooper (David Keith). Standing out in the huge cast is Richard Kiley as international con artist Gunther Hartog, who endeavors to teach Tracy all the tricks of big-time larceny while passing herself off as a variety of different women. Presented in three installments, If Tomorrow Comes was originally telecast on 1986 on March 16, 17, and 18. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

I just finished watching the 2-disc series. Although I didn't know what to expect from this movie; given the date is was made, I was pleasantly surprised. I'll admit, there was a little bit of "fluff" to it, but it had a great cast: the very handsome young Tom Berenger and Madolyn Smith. Richard Kiley was also very charming...one of my favorite actors from the 50's. It had a very interesting story line and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was not dark, sordid, nor was there any cursing. I would love to see more movies like this made now. It just goes to show you, a movie doesn't have to be filled with 4 letter words for it to hold your attention. A GREAT FIND! I'd recommend it to everyone who is looking for 5 or so hours of enjoyment in a movie.

I cannot remember ever seeing Madolyn Smith in anything before but after you watch this 5 hour marathon, you'll get to know her very well. Deceit and high end larceny are the two driving factors in this movie. Very nice scenery, almost like taking a European vacation.
