This, as all who have watched ANY of Charles Hestons early movies, is an Epic presentation. It is a wonderful Love Story that Sophia Loren helps bring up to the level of Romeo and Juliet. A clash between the Moores and the Christian, yet with respect for one another. It has been years since I've seen this movie, so the vail of the years have blurred many of the details. But the excellence of this movie still lingers on after so many years. I have it in my queue to watch it again. And it has been on my list of videos to buy for some time now. This rates as good or better as The Gates of Heaven. Or perhaps they compliment each other.
p.s. If Blockbuster would sell this item, I would buy it.
This is a great historical epic about an otherwise obscure historical figure (unless you're Spanish, I suppose).
The key problem here is that Blockbuster ships a single CD, which breaks at the "Intermission" (Right after Roderigo & Jimena essentially come out of exile so that he can leads the Spanish armies against the invading North African moors.) and therefore fails to deliver the conclusion of the story.
Again, it's a great historical epic (in the same vein as Cleopatra, Spartacus, etc.,), but just beware that you're not going to see the whole movie on this rental.
