From his battle to become the best in the world of competitive cycling to his struggle with the cancer that could have ended his life, seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong has served as an inspiration to a generation of athletes. Even before being diagnosed with testicular cancer Armstrong's life was full of challenges, and though the odds were stacked against him, the determined American cyclist would rise to the top of a sport generally thought to be dominated by Europeans by claiming multiple victories at the physically demanding Tour de France. In this intimate and revealing documentary, Armstrong tells his story both in his own words, and through the images that would inspire both athletes and cancer survivors worldwide. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is a brief brief synapsis of his life at less than a hour long. Not really the real in depth look at his life that I was looking for. Skip it and check out something else.

If you've read Lance's books or watched a lot of him racing, you'll find this documentary rather ho-hum. Definitely slanted on more on "adulation" than a realistic portrait of this magnificent athlete. As such, it barely skims the surface, which I found frustrating and almost not worth the viewing. But as an A&E documentary, the production quality is top-notch, but length way to short to even begin to give but the most unseasoned novice a portrait of this remarkable athlete. But until something better comes along...
