Homicide: Life on the Street: Season 04 (1996)

Homicide: Life on the Street: Season 04 (1996)
Member Rating:
Season four of Homicide: Life on the Street does without the services of Baltimore homicide detectives Bolander and Felton, who after cutting up at a police convention are suspended for 22 weeks without pay (in truth, actors Ned Beatty and Daniel Baldwin had left the series). Elsewhere, detective Megan Russert (Isabella Hofmann) has been promoted to captain over several of her envious male colleagues -- only to be demoted when she clashes with her superiors over the investigation of a possible cop-on-cop killing. In other story arcs, the homicide squad has trouble adjusting to irreverent arson detective Mike Kellerman (Reed Diamond); Pembleton (Yaphet Kotto) learns that his wife is pregnant; and videographer J.H. Brodie (Max Perlich) goes to work for homicide on a semi-regular basis. In another crossover with the NBC series Law & Order, the Baltimore detectives join forces with their NYPD counterparts in a murder investigation -- and in the process, the long-standing animosity between Baltimore's Detective Munch (Richard Belzer) and New York's Detective Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) comes to a head; and unpleasant memories of the unsolved Adena Watson case from Homicide's first season continue to haunt Det. Bayliss (Kyle Secor). Also, future regular Stuart Gharty (Peter Gerety) makes his first appearance as a beat cop. The season-ending cliffhanger is driven by a number of unresolved plotlines, not least of which is the stroke suffered by new father Pembleton while interrogating a suspect. ~ Rovi
