Everyone has been told that Casanova was the world's lover, but there never were many details to substantiate the story. This program gives an in-depth look at this Italian man who claimed he had made thousands of sexual conquests. He chronicled them all in his Memoirs, published during the 18th century. The effort took up 12 volumes. The documentary investigates the veracity of his claims, as well as his other exploits throughout Europe, which took him from the court of King Louis XV to the papal seat in Rome. Period accounts and artwork, re-enactments, and scholarly commentary flesh out the details of the escapades of Casanova. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi
