FIRST OF ALL, THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE... ALSO TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS MOVIE HAS SIMILAR THINGS TO MODERN TIMES OF CHARLES CHAPLIN BUT HERE IS A FUN FACT... THIS MOVIE WAS MADE 5 YEARS BEFORE MODERN TIMES.... ACTUALLY CHAPLIN PAID A FINE FOR DOING MODERN TIMES.... YOU SHOULD RENT THIS MOVIE.

7/11 Did Charlie Chaplin plagiarize this movie to create his most famous film, 'Modern Times'? The German film company sued him but the French Director had no part in it and said if it was true, he was honored by the Great Chaplin. Just be aware, THIS IS A FOREIGN FILM, YOU HAVE TO READ SUBTITLES! Great commentary on many levels about dehumanization caused by the industrial revolution, and how it could corrupt any man. There are prison breaks, gangsters, blackmail, assembly lines, overbearing and overinflated supervisors, and ultimately redemption in poverty. The parallels to Modern Times are inescapable, but it is also possible that 2 socialist filmmakers would make similar films, at that time.
