Michael Jordan was the most famous, most honored, and probably the greatest professional basketball player of his generation, an athlete whose intelligence, charisma, and dazzling on-court skill helped earn his game a new level of popularity and won Jordan a record six NBA title rings. Michael Jordan to the Max, shot and initially released in the high-definition IMAX film format, takes a documentary look at Jordan's life and career, focusing primarily on the 1999 NBA playoffs, in which Jordan and the Chicago Bulls achieved their sixth professional championship under his leadership, shortly before announcing his final retirement from the court. Along the way, we're offered glimpses of Jordan's early days growing up in North Carolina, his rise to fame, and his successful off-court careers in business and advertising. Michael Jordan to the Max was financed in part by mvp.com, an internet company which Jordan helped to found. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I have followed MJ's career since 1987 (so 20 years), and I am probably his biggest "fan". I wrote a paper in one college course, and a speech in another about Jordan, so I just about know everything about the man (as far as the general public). And obviously, I've seen ALL of his movies. I even watched the movie he was in with Bugs Bunny. And out of everything I've ever seen (or even read) about Mike, this movie was by far the absolute, no contest, worst one by a long shot. I did like it because it was about Jordan. But it's 45 minutes long, and all it really goes over is the '98 (his last season w/ the Bulls) playoffs (and not even in great depth). So if you're looking to watch a documentary, highlights, both, etc., you would be way better off renting one of his other hundreds of movie. I would recommend "[MJ's] Playground" or "His Airness". This movie barely displays how great he was, esp. when compared to his other movies.

This one quote from the dvd Michael Jordan to the Max makes it worthwhile to watch: "...going into situations where people don't know the outcome, I had already experienced it several times in my mind, with tricking myself mentally, so it didn't seem new to me, familiar, not strange. I wasn't afraid to fail with it. Once I began to understand that, I became a master of the game of basketball."

We all know that Michael Jordan is the man; however, you learn nothing watching this movie which centers around the championship years with the Bulls. The movie even goes into the period where he played minor league ball but did not stay with that portion very long. It seems that the movie did not want to take any chances with this movie.
