Actor J.D. Hawkins added writer and director to his resumé with this 2002 independent drama. Hawkins plays Jay, a single parent who drives a cab to make ends meet for himself and his young daughter. When a fare named Lisa (Channon Dade) gets in his cab, the two make a connection and, before long, embark on a relationship. Unfortunately, there are plenty of obstacles left for them to overcome before their love can truly blossom. Not the least of the things standing in the way of their happiness is Lisa's ex-boyfriend Alex (Frank Corey Shields). Also starring Tenia Yarbrough, Wounded Hearts was reportedly completed on a slim 50,000-dollar budget. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide
