Whitesnake: Music in Review

Though the British metal band Whitesnake officially formed in 1977 as an offshoot of Deep Purple (it was founded by Purple vocalist David Coverdale), it garnered its broadest following several years down the road, with the issue of the EPs Saints and Sinners (1982), Slide It In (1984), Whitesnake (1987), and Slip of the Tongue (1989) followed. Through it all, the band disclosed its Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple influences, and typically retained platinum-level sales, all the while helping to keep the heavy metal and arena rock sounds alive and kicking in the United States and abroad. The home video release Whitesnake: Music in Review provides a documentary overview of the band's musical growth and change, from its 1977 inception through membership changes in the late '80s, and its sudden, towering reemergence with the 1998 EP Restless Heart. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
