Timothy Donnelly

Actor Timothy Donnelly is the son of producer Paul Donnelly, and began working on television during 1964. He appeared in a handful of movies during the late '60s and early '70s, including The Secret of Santa Vittoria, but on television he was a far more familiar face for most of those two decades, most notably in the work of producer Jack Webb. Donnelly, along with Martin Milner, Stacy Harris, Vic Perrin, and a handful of others, were among Webb's core "stock company" during the 1960s run of the series Dragnet. He was ideal for the small screen, and one of the best players in Webb's ensemble, based on the evidence of the three episodes in which he guests starred -- in "Burglary DR-31," he portrayed a lonely, disturbed teenager who assumes the guise of the "Crimson Crusader" in order to steal movie and comic book memorabilia; and in the notorious "Big High" episode (known to most fans as "the dead baby in the bathtub episode"), he played the young husband whose willingness to indulge in marijuana with his wife leads to tragedy involving their daughter. Prior to working on Dragnet, Donnelly appeared in episodes of The Virginian and The Legend of Jesse James, and in the 1970s was a regular on the Webb-produced series Emergency. ~ Bruce Eder, All Movie Guide
