It's been 14 years since the mass-scale disaster known as the Hammer of Eden flooded most of the earth's surface, killing six billion people in the process. Since then, groups of survivors have banded together on the few remaining islands, which have become their own political states. These up and coming countries are beginning to restore a sense of society to the apocalyptic world, but their progress is cut short by the appearance of an old nuclear submarine called the U.S.S. Ulysses, which is attacking every settlement, declaring war, apparently, on everyone. Aboard the monstrous vessel is a grizzled old captain, and a very young couple with a new baby. What could motivate the crew of this mysterious ship to wreck such havoc, and will the newly formed UN destroy it before the answers are clear?
