The Real World Movie: The Lost Season
Belying its title, this made-for-cable thriller is hardly "real" in its plot contrivances, despite the presence of several former participants of the Real World TV series in the cast. The story begins when a new crop of twentysomethings (stereotypes all) are recruited for a season's worth of Real World episodes, to be filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Alas, the seven anointed ones are kidnapped by a demented fan (Bryan Kirkwood) of the popular MTV series, who is miffed that he has unsuccessfully auditioned five times to be a Real World regular. Locking the series' new cast in a foreboding mansion wired with 132 cameras, the crazed fan orders his captives to act out his own special version of Real World -- or else he'll blow everyone up. The Real World Movie: The Lost Season made its MTV bow on August 6, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
