Following his arrival in Paris in 1958, American expatriate Kenny Clarke became a key figure in the development of the city's burgeoning jazz community. Not only was Clarke a valued teacher and mentor to aspiring jazz musicians growing up in Paris, but he also went on to become the unofficial jazz counsel for the city.
