The first season of Showtime's revival of the vintage sci-fi-fantasy anthology The Outer Limits kicks off with the two-part "The Sandkings," co-starring Beau Bridges and his father Lloyd Bridges in the story of a foolhardy scientist who smuggles Martian embryos into his home. Other prominent guest stars appearing in the series' inaugural season are Charlie Martin Smith in the episode "Blood Brothers," Josh Brolin in "White Light Fever," Timothy Busfield in "Under the Bed," Annette O'Toole in "Dark Matters," Richard Thomas in "The New Breed," and Alyssa Milano in "Caught in the Act." While all of the aforementioned episodes were specifically written for the new Outer Limits, one of the first season's highlights is a remake of "I, Robot," first telecast on the first The Outer Limits way back in 1964. Leonard Nimoy reprises his original role in this episode, with his son Adam Nimoy serving as director. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
