As originally screened on PBS's popular Great Performances series, this music release features the October 2006 Opening Night Gala Concert by The Cleveland Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, held to commemorate that institution's 116th season. Performed works include Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 17 interpreted by Leif Ove Andsnes, selections from the Mozart opera Le Nozze di Figaro with vocals by soprano Dorothea Roschmann, and Franz von Suppe's Light Cavalry Overture, as well as several works by Johann Strauss including Annen-Polka, Artist's Life and the Overture to Die Fledermaus. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
