In this over-the-top satire of 50's and 60's B-movies, which dips its toes in enough styles and themes to fill a multiplex, global war has wiped out society as we know it. Most of the men have been killed off in combat (with the exception of a handful of Neanderthals), and gangs of beehive-coiffed Amazons now roam the earth, conveniently turning to each other for romantic satisfaction. Queen Jezebel (Starlet Kerine Elkins) is the ruler of this strange land, and a number of wild women battle among themselves in hopes of winning her crown. Meanwhile, Naomi (Gina Velour) roams the wastelands looking for any remnants of a rare burlesque reel in which her mother danced. Superstarlet A.D. was written and directed by John Michael McCarthy, who previously made several other sleaze-cinema tributes/parodies, including Teenage Tupelo and Damselvis, Daughter Of Helvis. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
