Screened at the 2002 New Waves Film Festival in Hawaii, Strapped: The Origins of Tow-In Surfing introduces the innovators of big-wave surfing, including Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama, and Rush Randall. Eight dedicated individuals figured out this unique method of surfing in order to catch the most gigantic waves possible. Filmed in Maui, the documentary chronicles the history of tow-in wave riding, including footage of some of the biggest waves ever surfed, progressive moves, and experimental surfing tactics. This action-packed look at extreme sports features the music of U2, Endo, and Grand Theft Auto. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide
