S.O.D.: 20 Years of Dysfunction
In 1985, thrash-metal heroes Anthrax found themselves with some unexpected downtime, and guitarist Scott Ian and drummer Charlie Benante joined forces with good friends bassist Dan Lilker (then playing with Nuclear Assault) and singer Billy Milano (who later formed M.O.D.) and threw together a band called Stormtroopers of Death (or S.O.D.). Blending thrash-metal with hardcore punk, S.O.D.'s sound was something new and different, and their lightning-fast riffs and goofy bad-taste humor earned a passionate following for their album Speak English or Die. While intended as a one-off project, S.O.D. following led the group to reunite periodically, and S.O.D.: 20 Years of Dysfunction is a home video that combines rare live material and backstage and rehearsal footage to create a suitably wild and irreverent portrait of the mad geniuses of metal. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
