A strange object from outer space falls to Earth, and with it comes a powerful new Pokémon named Deoxys. The creature is discovered by Professor Lund and his son Tory, who are stunned when Deoxys nearly bests one of the champion Pokémon, Rayquaza, in a fight. The battle makes a powerful impression on Tory, who no longer wants to work with the strange animals. Four years later, Ash and Pikachu travel to the futuristic city of Larousse, where they meet Tory and his dad.
