Phil Meheux

Since making his debut as a full-fledged feature film cinematographer in The Long Good Friday (1980), Philip Meheux has filmed a wide variety of features. He started out as a projectionist for the BBC and soon became a documentary cameraman. In the early '70s, Meheux photographed 18 long documentaries for the television series Man Alive. He remained with the BBC for a dozen years and then left to make Black Joy, which marked the first time Meheux had worked with 35 mm film. The film was produced by director Martin Campbell. Meheux and Campbell have worked together since, on collaborations including Criminal Law (1989), No Escape (1994), and the James Bond thriller Goldeneye (1995). Meheux has also worked with other directors, including Philip Noyce on The Saint (1997). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
