Modern Marvels: Mount Rushmore
This program is part of a series that examines some of the greatest technological achievements of modern times. One of the most unusual monuments ever created in America is the subject of this episode. Mount Rushmore was the vision of the artist Gutzon Borglum. It took over a decade and 400 people to complete the sculptures of the faces of presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln in a rocky promontory in South Dakota. Archival film footage and photographs, as well as personal accounts, illustrate the story of these portraits in stone. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
