This first Gundam OVA series was produced to commemorate Gundam's ten-year anniversary. The title War in the Pocket is meant to imply a smaller-scale, more-personal story than its predecessors. It also marks the first Gundam anime to be directed by someone other than series creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. It follows the war experiences of a ten-year-old boy named Al, who is befriended by Bernie, a Zeon lieutenant. Bernie is eventually torn by his duty as a military officer and his emotions as a human being, especially when he develops feelings for a beautiful woman named Chris, who turns out to be the test pilot for the newest Gundam Suit prototype, which he is ordered to destroy. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
