Mentors: El Duce Vita
Formed in 1977 by guitarist Sickie Wifebeater (Eric Carlson), bassist Dr. Heathen Scum (Steve Broy), and drummer/singer extraordinaire El Duce (Eldon Hoke), The Mentors shocked and amused audiences with their ultra-offensive brand of off-color punk rock. Though it was all done in good fun, some listeners simply weren't able to look past the raunchy lyrics to see the true innovation that The Mentor injected into the increasingly benign world of rock and roll. Now longtime fans and new converts alike can experience the maniacal majesty of The Mentors in their prime with this release featuring a 1991 performance at 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, Minnesota as well as a sampling of the band's hilariously lewd concept videos. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
