Masters of the Country Blues: Bukka White and Son House
Two legendary, primal figures of the Mississippi delta blues are captured on film in this home video release. Featuring performances recorded for broadcast on educational television in the early 1960's, Masters of the Country Blues: Bukka White and Son House features White showing off his fiery slide guitar work on "Mama Don't Allow", "Gibson Hill", "Aberdeen Mississippi Blues" and others, while Son House divides his set between raw blues tunes ("Death Letter Blues" and "Preaching The Blues") and impassioned gospel ("John the Revelator", "I Want To Live So God Can Use Me"). Taj Mahal serves as host. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
