Mance Lipscomb: In Concert
One of the true giants of the country blues, Mance Lipscomb was a guitarist and singer who spent most of his life working as a tenant farmer in rural Texas and playing juke joints on weekends. It wasn't until the early 1960s that Lipscomb was discovered by blues researchers and recorded a number of acclaimed albums which finally earned him the international following he deserved. Mance Lipscomb In Concert is culled from a 1969 performance recorded in Texas for public television in Texas, and captures the bluesman performing a mixture of originals and covers in his inimitable style. Songs include "Night Time Is the Right Time," "Alcohol Blues," "Mama Don't Allow," "I Want to Do Something for You," "Key to the Highway," "Silver City," and many more. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
