Investigative Reports: Newt Gingrich & the Republican Revolution
This documentary, part of the Investigative Reports cable television series on the A&E network, examines the condition of the Congress beginning in 1994 when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Newt Gingrich, the Speaker of the House after the Republican majority, became a controversial American politician. This episode, narrated by Investigative Reports host and producer Bill Kurtis, takes a behind-the-scenes look at these years of Republican control and suggests that some of the junior congressmen and congresswomen were not yet ready for their congressional appointments. There are interviews with a variety of congressmen and congresswomen, both Republicans and Democrats, who talk about the condition of the country and the Congress before and during this reign of Republican control. ~ Cecilia Cygnar, All Movie Guide
