Glenn O'Brien's TV Party: The Time and Makeup Show
The fine line between cable television and pop art continues to blur as the TV Party crew toys with time and space in an episode originally broadcast live from ETC Studios on August 19, 1979. Host Glenn O'Brien starts things off with a bang by rolling a joint while blindfolded and smoking a joint, and legendary fashion photographer Steven Meisel follows by performing a remarkable makeover on an everyday girl found at a nearby bar. A musical performance by percussionist David von Tieghem proves that beats can come from the most unlikely of household objects, and punk Parisian accordion/guitar duo Fifi and Claude (Tim Wright and girlfriend Marianne) offer a musical performance that few viewers would soon forget. A magic trick performed by TV Party Orchestra member Lenny Ferrari's "Italian cousin" Luigi Ciccolini gives the proceedings a surreal twist before Richard Sohl, Fab Five Freddy, Ronny Cutrone, and Robert Fripp answer some viewer phone calls. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
